A Legacy in Every Story
Hearing and learning from our parents, grandparents, or any cherished elder is priceless. Preserving their stories, reflections, and wisdom helps us understand who they deeply are and, in many ways, who we are, too. Photos and written notes are precious, but nothing compares to seeing the people you love share their story in their own words — their voice, their laughter, their emotion.
In Their Own Words makes this possible. Through a cinematic documentary that blends a heartfelt interview with beautiful footage of your loved one in their element, we create a legacy film that captures the essence of their life — their memories, lessons, and personality — for your family to cherish for generations.
Watch our founder, Grégoire Thiry, share how
In Their Own Words began and how it can preserve your family’s story.

How it works
1. Getting to Know Each Other
We start with a friendly Zoom call to get to know each other. I’ll introduce you to the creative process, listen to your ideas, and answer any questions you may have. Family members are welcome to join the call and share their thoughts or memories too. My goal is to make this a comfortable and enjoyable experience from the very beginning.
2. Preparing
Your Story
After our call, I’ll send you a thoughtful list of questions to help you reflect on your life, your memories, and the stories you’d like to share. This helps the conversation flow naturally during the filming.
Once you’re ready, we’ll schedule the filming date together.
3. The Filming Day
We’ll meet at the chosen location — your home, garden, or another meaningful place. I’ll create a warm, cinematic setup so you feel comfortable on camera. After the interview, we’ll capture natural “b-roll” moments of you in your element — walking, reflecting, or enjoying simple everyday moments.
4. Bringing Your
Story to Life
After the shoot, I’ll edit your 30-minute film (the length may vary depending on your story) with music that enhances the emotion and flow of your story. You can share family photos—childhood, weddings, gatherings—to weave into the film and bring your memories to life.

15 Years of Storytelling,
Now for What Matters Most
For over a decade, Grégoire Thiry has created films for brands, companies, and documentaries, mastering how to craft visuals, sound, and emotion into stories that resonate. But his true passion lies in human stories; the ones that celebrate life, love, and connection.
In Their Own Words is his way of using everything he’s learned to serve families. He helps preserve the voices, memories, and personalities of parents, grandparents, and cherished elders; creating cinematic legacy films that your family can treasure for generations.
Every project is a collaboration: a chance to listen, witness, and honor a life through film. Grégoire’s goal is to craft films that are not just seen, but felt: stories that make you laugh, maybe cry, and always remember.
Let’s preserve your family’s story together.
